Job summary

Stellar Recruitment AU and NZ is seeking a Technical Specialist – Surface Drills in Western Australia for a FIFO role. You will provide advanced technical support, diagnose faults, and lead maintenance improvement initiatives across a world‑class surface drilling fleet in the region.

You will mentor local maintenance teams, engage with customers, and deliver technical training while ensuring safety and reliability in a remote mining environment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Heavy‑Duty Mechanics or related discipline.
• Experience with surface drilling equipment fault finding (hydraulic, electrical).
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, CAN‑Bus systems.
• Proven mining maintenance, reliability and preventive maintenance experience.
• Ability to coach and mentor maintenance teams and deliver technical training.
• Strong communication skills to build relationships with customers and stakeholders.
• Experience autonomous work in remote mining environments.
• Commitment to safety and customer focus.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical support for surface drilling equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical faults.
• Coordinate field service resources to meet maintenance requirements.
• Coach, mentor, and develop customer maintenance personnel through hands‑on and classroom training.
• Present operational and technical performance reports to customers and senior management.
• Support maintenance planning to optimize preventative maintenance strategies and improve equipment reliability.
• Liaise with regional technical support teams to implement product improvements and resolve ongoing issues.
• Build strong relationships with customer maintenance, planning, and leadership teams to deliver outstanding service outcomes.
