Job summary

UGL, part of the CIMIC Group, is seeking a site Electrical Supervisor to plan, lead and control maintenance operations for plant and electrical systems on complex underground tunnelling or mining projects. You will ensure safety, quality, time, and environmental targets are met while coordinating with engineers and project managers on short-term planning and handovers.

You will mentor apprentices, manage performance, and resolve IR/ER issues, with involvement in safety meetings, quality checks,

Qualifications

• Electrical licence holder
• Extensive experience in underground civil tunnelling or mining construction electrical networks and systems (HV & LV)
• Ability to lead, supervise and mentor in a large infrastructure environment

Responsibilities

• Assist Engineers and Superintendent/Project Manager in developing and monitoring short-term program (3 week look ahead) and forecast
• Conduct daily prestart and weekly toolbox meetings to promote safety and resolve issues
• Be responsible for accurate and effective shift handovers
• Assist in training CGU-JV workers and contractors (induction and ongoing)
• Mentor Apprentices and Trainees in learning outcomes
• Manage day-to-day performance and development of employees, coaching and mentoring
• Identify and resolve IR/ER issues and escalate to Superintendent/PM promptly
• Ensure materials and equipment meet quality requirements
• Assess changes to electrical systems
• Provide assistance in investigations of electrical incidents
• Review drawings, programs, project/plant specifications and sequences of work

About the role

To plan, organise, lead and control site plant & machinery maintenance operations for compliance with the construction programme ensuring high plant availability, consistent in terms of and in order to ensure safety, cost, time, quality, environmental, community targets are achieved.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Engineers and Superintendent/Project Manager in developing and monitoring short term program (3 week look ahead) and forecast associated with the scope of work/s;
• Conduct daily prestart and weekly toolbox meetings for direct work team to ensure safety is discussed, promoted and issues are resolved;
• Be responsible for accurate and effective shift handovers as required;
• Assist in the training of CGU-JV workers and contractors, i.e. induction and ongoing
• Ensure Apprentices and Trainees are mentored and supervised in accordance with their prescribed learning outcomes;
• Manage day to day performance and development of employees including effectively coaching and mentoring;
• Identify and resolve any IR/ER issues and escape serious issues to the Superintendent/Project Manager in a timely and appropriate manner
• Ensure materials and equipment delivered to site meets quality requirements
• Ensure any changes to the electrical system are assessed.
• Provide assistance in or undertake the investigation of electrical incidents
• Review and understand all drawings, programs, project / plant specifications and sequences of work for the specific scope of work.

About You

• Electrical licence holder
• Extensive experience in underground civil tunnelling or mining construction electrical networks and systems, both High Voltage and Low Voltage
• Able to develop excellent supervisory skills and ability to lead and mentor in a large infrastructure environment
