Job summary

Bornhorst + Ward is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Melbourne team. You will lead aspects of design for steel and concrete structures, taking ownership from concept through delivery, and mentoring junior staff.

Working collaboratively with engineering and drafting teams, you will liaise with clients and consultants, contribute to a broad range of building and infrastructure projects, and help grow our Melbourne practice.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in structural engineering with hands-on design of steel and concrete structures.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Relevant professional registration, or actively working towards registration within Victoria.

Responsibilities

• Undertake structural analysis and design across a diverse range of building structures and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, models and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering and drafting teams to deliver practical, coordinated and buildable solutions.
• Liaise with clients, architects and external consultants throughout the design process.
• Take ownership of project deliverables, ensuring technical quality and alignment with project requirements.
• Attend design meetings and undertake occasional site inspections.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and drafters.
• Lead and deliver significant engineering projects.
• Further develop their technical and professional engineering expertise.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of the wider team.
• Build strong relationships with clients and external consultants.
• Contribute to improving systems, processes and work practices across the business.
• Play an active role in the growth and development of our Melbourne practice.
