Job summary

Van der Meer Consulting seeks a Senior Structural Engineer for its Sydney office to design and deliver complex structural solutions for high-rise, commercial and residential projects. You will guide projects from concept to completion, ensuring code compliance and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities include modelling, analysis, drawings, reports, site inspections, and mentoring junior engineers and BIM technicians while coordinating with clients and contractors to secure approvals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; post graduate degree preferred.
Minimum 7 years’ experience in structural engineering with at least 3 years in Australia, consultancy setting preferred.
Experience in design of residential, commercial, retail and industrial projects.
Proven expertise in steel and concrete design.

Responsibilities

Execute structural designs including modelling, analysis, manual calculations, drawings, reports and presentations.
Ensure designs comply with Australian standards and project schedules and budgets.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and BIM technicians.
Participate in project meetings, offering technical insights and resolving structural challenges.
Conduct site inspections ensuring adherence to design and safety standards.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, architects and other consultants to secure approvals.
