Job summary

GHD is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Queensland Bridges team, ideally based in Cairns. You will deliver practical structural solutions across bridges, transport, water and civil infrastructure throughout Queensland, taking ownership of project delivery and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
• Minimum 5 years’ industry experience as a Structural Engineer.
• Membership of Engineers Australia and RPEQ preferred, or equivalent accreditation.
• Demonstrated design and analysis experience across bridges or related civil structures.
• Experience delivering projects per Australian Standards and industry requirements.
• Strong technical judgement and constructible solutions.
• Experience coordinating project delivery, including scope, programme and budget.
• Clear communication with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Interest in mentoring developing engineers and contributing to a collaborative culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to analysis, design and documentation of bridges and other civil structures.
• Deliver projects from concept through detailed design to construction support and site activities.
• Work across road/rail bridges, marine infrastructure and other public infrastructure.
• Undertake condition assessments and develop strengthening/upgrades.
• Coordinate structural inputs across multidisciplinary projects with engineers, designers and clients.
• Manage quality, budgets, programmes and project risks within scope.
• Build client relationships and contribute to proposals and opportunities.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designers.
