Job summary

WSP Adelaide is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Building Structures team on iconic defence and infrastructure projects. The role offers a paid relocation package and a flexible hybrid work arrangement, with strong collaboration across a national, high-performing team.

You will lead multi-year design, delivery and tender activities, mentor junior engineers, and build solid client relationships while maintaining high technical and delivery standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor to Masters in Civil/Structural Engineering with 8–12 years post-grad experience.
• Australia-based building projects experience is essential.
• Eligibility for Australian Defence security clearance is essential – Australian citizens only.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery and tender phases for multi-year turnkey projects.
• Ensure timely delivery and quality of structural engineering work per standards and budgets.
• Manage project scope, programme, budgets and quality outcomes.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and identify new opportunities.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers; collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll do:

• Project lead work across the design, delivery and tender phases for multi-year/packaged work for turnkey projects;
• Ensure timely and quality of delivery for project and structural engineering work in support of relevant technical, commercial and regulatory standards - and in alignment with schedules and budgets;
• Manage project scope, programme, budgets, and quality outcomes.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and identify new opportunities.
• Handle ongoing communication and highly effective professional relationships with local clients;
• Manage effective stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally;
• Provide sound technical/delivery guidance for the team;
• Mentor, train and develop the careers of junior engineers;
• Partner with internal stakeholders and a collaborative, national team in a multidisciplinary engineering setting.

About You

• Commercial experience in Australia on medium/large building structure engineering projects is essential.
• Bachelor to Masters' level degree (Civil/Structural Engineering) with 8-12 years post graduate industry experience.
• Eligibility to obtain Australian Defence full security clearance is essential - only eligible to Australian Citizens (Permanent Resident, NZ Citizens & Visa holders are not eligible).
• Exposure across a range of local building sectors, e.g., transport, metro, health, data centres, retail, defence;
• Strong technical capability in the design and delivery of building projects, supported by advanced knowledge of structural analysis and design software.
• Familiar with ETABS, RAM Concept and Microstran.
• Solid consultancy experience in a client facing role with ability to lead projects and manage clients.
• Strong track record of effective cross-discipline project delivery and manage project teams.
• Experience coaching & mentoring junior engineers across technical and project delivery aspects.
• CPENG qualified or close to completion is preferred.
