Job summary

EMtek Pty Ltd in Brisbane is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead design across the full project lifecycle for mining infrastructure, including concrete foundations and steel structures. You will deliver detailed calculations, drawings, and design documentation, ensuring AS standards compliance.

Reporting to the Lead/Principal Structural Engineer, you will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with electrical/controls and other disciplines, and occasionally visit client sites

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering.
• 7+ years of structural engineering experience in mining/resources.
• Experience with concrete/steel structures and calculations.
• Proficiency with Australian Standards AS 4100, AS 3600 and AS 1170.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design across full project lifecycle for mining infrastructure.
• Deliver concrete foundations, steel structures, platforms, walkways, and chutes.
• Perform structural analysis and ensure compliance with standards and client specs.
• Collaborate with electrical/controls engineers and other disciplines.

Position Overview

Due to continuing growth we now have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to provide support in a diverse role within a professional and friendly environment. This is a full-time position based in our Brisbane office.

Reporting to the Lead or Principal Structural Engineer, your duties will include but not be limited to:

Leading structural engineering design across the full project lifecycle for mining infrastructure including concrete foundations, steel structures, platforms and walkways, bulk material handling, and supporting facilities.

Delivering structural steel design, concrete foundation and footing design, platform, walkway and stair design, and connection design and detailing in accordance with the AS 1170 loading series.

Leading structural analysis and design activities using appropriate engineering principles and software tools, ensuring designs meet structural performance requirements, safety standards, and client specifications and Australian standards.

Providing technical review and advice to a growing team of electrical/controls engineers and to the wider EMtek team.

Supporting and collaborate with other disciplines and designers to develop designs for a wide range of plant and infrastructure.

Occasional visits to client sites as required

Maintaining a safety focus through all aspects of work

Skills and Experience

Tertiary qualification in Engineering and 7+ years' demonstrated experience in structural engineering within the mining and resources sector or related industrial industry.

Strong structural engineering design capabilities for concrete and steel structures, with proficiency in calculations in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, AS 4100, AS 3600, and the AS 1170 loading series to name a few.

Proven ability to produce comprehensive engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and design documentation to a high standard

Practical experience in construction, commissioning, and/or operations in bulk materials and minerals processing industries.

Sound understanding of engineering principles, construction methodologies, and fabrication processes

Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as Space Gass.

Experience across a range of commodity types including but not limited to iron ore, gold, copper and lithium is desirable.

Familiarity with bulk materials handling infrastructure including conveyor structures, transfer stations, stockpile facilities, Chutes and Bins is desirable
