Job description

Wood Research and Development (WRD) is seeking a Manager for our Deception Bay Office, as a Senior Structural Engineer with a minimum of 10 to 15 years design experience as well as a minimum of 5 years in project and resource management.

The following areas of expertise and/or experience are desirable:

  • Construction and/or construction support

We are a consulting engineering business that specializes in designing timber structures, including buildings, bridges, and outdoor structures. More specifically, we undertake the design of new construction as well as the inspection and restoration design of historic and heritage listed structures. We implement proven and modern construction methods and technologies, including many high-strength fibre and unique design solutions developed by our team. We often validate our designs and methods by physical testing and structural health monitoring projects (through our quality programs). Our inquisitive nature combined with several research and development (R&D) programs has prepared us to lead the industry, defining field research and advanced engineering as our clients may require.

Over the past 10 years, we have provided designs for many D&C projects as well as design and documentation works, performed bridge inspections and delivered associated reports. We routinely work closely with construction companies that restore, upgrade, and replace timber bridges and structures. With offices in the USA and Canada, our engineers often work on projects in North America and around the world to compliment workloads in those offices.
