Job summary

CPC Engineering is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Designer to join our Drawing Office on a staff basis, with contract options. The role covers major projects across gold, copper and nickel operations in the resources sector.

You will produce construction-ready drawings and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure design intent is accurately captured. We are offering a permanent staff position with potential contract terms, a collaborative environment, and a 9-day fortnight to

Qualifications

• Trade or tertiary qualification in Drafting, Design or a related discipline.
• Proven Civil/Structural Designer experience in resources/minerals sector.
• Proficiency in Autodesk products; Advanced Steel preferred.
• Understanding of Australian design standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare civil and structural drawings including foundations and platforms.
• Detail structural steel connections and bulk material handling structures.
• Produce concept, preliminary and detailed drawings for construction.
• Work from engineers' calculations and markups to deliver accurate drawings.
• Coordinate with mechanical, piping and electrical disciplines in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Maintain drawing registers, revision control and documentation in line with standards.
• Site measure-ups and verification of existing conditions.
• Liaise with engineers, project managers and clients to capture design intent.

CPC Engineering is a multi-disciplined engineering design, construction and project management company with a strong reputation for delivering professional, practical and cost-effective services to the resource industry.

We are seeking an experienced Civil / Structural Designer and a Senior Civil / Structural Designer to join our Drawing Office on a staff basis. Contract terms will also be considered for suitable candidates.

This is an excellent opportunity for designers with a strong background in minerals processing to contribute to the design and delivery of major projects across gold, copper and nickel operations.

The Civil / Structural Designer role will cover:

• Preparation of civil and structural drawings including foundations, footings, platforms, walkways, structural steelwork and general arrangements
• Detailing of structural steel connections, bulk material handling structures and equipment support structures
• Production of concept, preliminary and detailed design drawings through to construction-ready issue
• Working from engineer's calculations, sketches and markups to produce accurate, fit-for-purpose drawings
• Coordination and clash detection with other disciplines (mechanical, piping, electrical) in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Maintaining drawing registers, revision control and documentation in line with company and client standards
• Site measure-ups and verification of existing conditions where required
• Liaising with engineers, project managers and clients to ensure design intent is accurately captured

About you:

• Trade or tertiary qualification in Drafting, Design or a related discipline
• Proven experience as a Civil/Structural Designer within the resources or minerals processing sector
• Proficiency in Autodesk products, and ideally Advanced Steel
• Sound understanding of Australian structural and civil design standards
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deliverables to deadlines
• A collaborative, team-first approach and clear communication skills
