Job summary

Knox Grammar School in Wahroonga on Sydney’s North Shore is seeking an experienced Head Coach - Senior Weights & Training (SWAT) to lead the development of our senior strength and conditioning program. The Head Coach SWAT will be appointed on a casual basis during school term-time and is required to work at least 20 hours between Monday to Saturday during term-time.

Hours of work will be 2:00pm-5:00pm Monday–Friday and Saturday 7:00am–1:00pm.

Qualifications

• A degree in Exercise Science, Sport Science or a related discipline (or currently studying).
• Experience delivering strength and conditioning or athletic development programs.
• Experience coaching adolescents, ideally within a school environment.
• Previous coaching experience in gym-based or sporting settings.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to lead large group training sessions effectively.
• Current Senior First Aid and CPR certification.
• Certificate IV in Fitness and ASCA Level 1 Accreditation are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Designing, programming and delivering high-quality strength and conditioning sessions.
• Creating safe, engaging and progressive training environments for students of varying abilities.
• Coaching gym etiquette, movement competency and safe lifting practices.
• Supporting broader athletic development programs across the School, including Rugby, Mountain Biking, KnoxFit and PDHPE programs.
• Monitoring student progress and fostering a positive culture of participation and achievement.
• Building strong relationships with students, parents and staff.
• Supporting program administration, attendance management, risk management and event coordination.
• Promoting the SWAT program across the Knox community.
