Job summary

Goulburn Murray Water's Mildura-based Storage Operations team is seeking a Senior Storage Officer to oversee daily operation, maintenance and safety of water storages. The role is site-based, outdoors, and involves overtime when required.

Reporting to the Storage Manager, you will contribute to emergency preparedness, risk mitigation and community engagement, with comprehensive training provided and standby roster participation in the future.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated communication skills, including public and stakeholder engagement.
• Willingness to undertake and complete multiple training requirements.
• Ability to deliver quality and efficient outcomes, applying innovative and continuous improvement solutions.
• Knowledge of ANCOLD guidelines and dam safety frameworks.
• Experience in emergency preparedness and response.
• Experience in storage operations or water industry environments.
• Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, trade qualification and/or White Card.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Storage Officer (previously known as Reservoir Officer / Dam Operator) to join our Storage Operations team at Mildura.

Reporting to the Storage Manager, this role supports the ongoing operation, maintenance and safety of water storages to agreed service standards and regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in emergency preparedness, risk mitigation and catchment protection activities, helping to ensure safe and reliable water supply for our customers and communities.

This is a hands‑on, site‑based role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in asset stewardship and is committed to safety, compliance and continuous improvement. Training will be provided, including future participation in a standby roster. The role requires availability for overtime and weekend work when required, and the ability to assist at other sites (up to two weeks per year with notice).
