Job summary

NSW Health is seeking a Senior Systems Officer for State-wide Network Services in Chatswood. The role focuses on operation, optimisation, and continuous improvement of a large multi-tenant enterprise network across state health infrastructure.

You will escalate complex incidents, drive agile practices, and mentor team members while collaborating with Product Owners and Principal Engineers to deliver reliable, secure network services. Hybrid flexibility is available.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior networking or engineering experience
• Ability to translate customer requirements into actionable backlog items
• Strong reporting and documentation skills, including change/event management
• Knowledge of Agile practices and methodologies
• Multi-vendor environment experience (Cisco, HPE Aruba/Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto)

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with Lead Support, Product Owners and Principal Engineers to understand product offerings and requirements
• Participate in meetings to refine requests, manage tickets, and support issue resolution
• Analyse customer requests and translate them into backlog items for the Product Owner
• Promote and embed an agile mindset within the support function
• Prepare and deliver reports on service performance and key metrics
• Identify and drive improvements in Change and Event Management processes
• Perform proactive problem management and root cause analysis
• Act as the technical escalation point for complex incidents across network, firewall, and Wi‑Fi infrastructure
• Manage BAU operations across network environments for high availability and security
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and documentation to uplift team capability
