Aurec is seeking an experienced Database Engineer in Australia to design automated, self-healing data ecosystems at enterprise scale. You will reduce manual tasks, accelerate root-cause analysis, and drive modernization across SQL Server on-prem and cloud environments.

You will apply automation via PowerShell, Python, Ansible, and advanced T-SQL, while expanding proficiency into open-source engines and AI-enabled observability. This role offers a hybrid work setup and a clear path to leadership.

Qualifications

• Deep, authoritative mastery of Microsoft SQL Server across enterprise on-prem and cloud environments (Azure SQL MI).
• Hands-on automation chops with PowerShell, Python, Ansible or advanced T-SQL scripting.
• Interest in AI and observability tools to boost reliability and productivity.
• Comfort with proactive SRE practices and golden signals to prevent incidents.

Responsibilities

• Drive large-scale automation and self-healing data ecosystems.
• Embed AI connectors and automation into operational workflows for rapid fault diagnosis.
• Standardize database delivery with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Lead complex architectural decisions with limited escalations and P1 incident handling.
• Work across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and other engines.
