Job summary

Kinetic IT is seeking a SQL Database Administrator to join one of our onsite teams delivering managed ICT services to a Federal Government customer in Canberra. You will manage and optimise SQL Server environments, ensuring performance, availability and security, with occasional on-call work outside standard hours.

The role is full-time and onsite in Canberra, with standard business hours and participation in an on-call roster.

Qualifications

• Proven SQL Server administration experience with user management.
• Experience designing maintenance plans and SQL jobs.
• Proficient in performance tuning and query optimisation.
• Experience implementing security measures and regulatory controls.
• Active AGSVA NV1 security clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Administering, maintaining and optimising SQL Server databases
• Performing regular database backups, restorations and recovery activities
• Monitoring and tuning database performance
• Proactively identifying and resolving performance issues and bottlenecks
• Developing and maintaining automation scripts to streamline routine database administration
• Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect sensitive data
• Ensuring databases comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Responding to and resolving database-related issues
