Job summary

Space Machines Company is seeking a firmware-focused engineer to build flight software and integrate satellite subsystems. You will work closely with hardware, software, and systems teams to deliver flight-ready firmware for the satellite platform.

The role involves developing telemetry downlink, command uplink, health monitoring, and interfacing via CAN, RS-422/485, and Ethernet. You’ll contribute to end-to-end verification and testing in a fast-paced startup setting.

Qualifications

• Firmware development for flight control units in satellite subsystems.
• Interface software and hardware teams to ensure alignment with SW expectations.
• Integrate subsystems like thermal, radio, propulsion, GNSS, attitude, payload and power.

Responsibilities

• Drive core flight software requirements, architecture, implementation, and testing.
• Develop and validate telemetry downlink and command uplink protocols.
• Ensure robust health monitoring and external interfaces (CAN, RS-422/485, Ethernet).
• Collaborate on external/internal documentation and verification activities.
