Job summary

BuildRight Construction AU is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead a large-scale solar salt operation in regional Queensland. You will own the complete production cycle, drive performance, quality, and cost controls, and build a capable, multi-skilled frontline workforce.

The role demands hands-on leadership, strong technical knowledge of evaporation and crystallisation processes, and a track record of delivering results in seasonal and weather-dependent environments.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience managing solar salt production operations.
• International solar salt production experience will be considered.
• Strong knowledge of evaporation and crystallisation-based production processes.
• Candidates without direct salt experience may be considered with a strong chemical engineering or chemistry background and relevant crystallisation experience.
• Proven experience managing and developing frontline production teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience working with production cost and inventory KPIs.
• Ability to manage production in seasonal and weather-dependent environments.
• Strong technical problem-solving and operational decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage complex production issues and unexpected operational events.
• Strong leadership and communication capabilities.
• Ability to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
• Willingness to relocate and live on-site in regional Queensland.
• Ability to work in a hands-on production leadership environment.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for production performance across the operation.
• Manage the complete solar salt production cycle from seawater intake to finished stockpile.
• Oversee pumping, evaporation, crystallisation, harvesting, washing and stacking activities.
• Lead and develop a team of approximately 10+ production employees.
• Build a flexible and multi-skilled frontline workforce.
• Monitor production output, inventory and cost-per-tonne performance.
• Maintain strong commercial control over production activities.
• Plan operations around seasonal conditions and weather patterns.
• Identify operational risks and make timely decisions during high-impact events.
• Ensure production output consistently meets required quality standards.
• Investigate and resolve technical, process and production issues.
• Lead continuous improvement activities focused on productivity and efficiency.
• Support capital projects designed to improve site capability and resilience.
• Work with internal specialists and external technical consultants where required.
• Drive a strong culture of safety, accountability, teamwork and operational excellence.
• Contribute to the future expansion and long-term development of the operation.
