Job summary

Eftsure is a fast-scaling SaaS Fraud Technology platform protecting Australian businesses from payment fraud through real-time vendor verification and payment protection. We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team to design and build scalable software and own complex technical problems from design through production.

Qualifications

• Typically 5+ years of professional software engineering experience and ownership of complex technical problems.
• Strong commercial software development experience, ideally with Java and modern backend technologies.
• Experience with cloud-based, distributed or high-scale systems.
• Exposure to our tech stack: Java, AWS, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, .NET, GitHub and GitLab.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/SE or related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Relevant technical certifications are welcomed but not required.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable, resilient, maintainable software systems across architecture, data, security, performance and infrastructure.
• Own complex technical problems from investigation to production, balancing short-term needs with long-term scalability.
• Address performance challenges and reliability, with monitoring and incident considerations for scale.
• Stay hands-on by translating architectural decisions into production-ready code with quality testing and error handling.
• Evaluate approaches, justify trade-offs, and communicate long-term implications of technical decisions.
• Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, documentation and mentoring.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams onshore and offshore to deliver meaningful product outcomes.
• Continuously improve architecture, development practices, and explore new technologies.
