Job summary

Our client is a highly secure, regulated organisation that builds custom software, helping organisations in the banking and finance space with their event driven architectures and AML capabilities. They are looking for a Senior Python Developer to be their foundational internal engineering hire.

This is a strictly hands-on engineering role. You will be the technical anchor for the platform writing high-quality production code and establishing engineering patterns for an outsourced development team.

The Role

• Take technical ownership of a critical digital platform, designing and building distributed systems.
• Translate complex requirements into secure, buildable technical solutions.
• Design and implement event-driven, asynchronous, and API-based workflows.
• Actively write, test, and deliver production software.
• Troubleshoot complex application, integration, and distributed-system issues.
• Review code from external partners and challenge implementation approaches to ensure quality and security.

Technical Requirements

• Strong, current hands-on development experience with Python and Django.
• Expertise in asynchronous systems.
• Practical experience with RabbitMQ or similar messaging platforms.
• A strong understanding of distributed systems and their failure modes
• Demonstrated experience integrating Application Security by design, including OAuth, modern identity patterns, and secure handling of sensitive data.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL or comparable relational databases.
