Job summary

Qantas Airways in Sydney seeks a Senior Full-stack Software Engineer to join the Qantas Loyalty Retail Team. You will lead feature development, mentor teammates, and deliver high-quality software across the React/Node.js stack.

Bring 8+ years of professional experience, strong React.js with TypeScript, Node.js, Next.js, and cloud know-how (AWS/GCP). Emphasis on Agile, CI/CD, TDD, and automated testing to maximize team efficiency.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Full-stack Senior Software Engineer to join Qantas Loyalty Retail Team!

Senior Software Engineers at Qantas are responsible for guiding and leading feature development of the software that powers our business unit. They bring experience to both code and mentor other technical team members to deliver high-quality, well-designed software, using their depth and breadth of experience to help guide the team with a strong sense of pragmatism: knowing how much design work is enough, how much testing is enough, to maximise team efficiency. They will spot code design problems early and lead the work to address them.

What you will bring

• 8+ years of experience as a professional software engineer
• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and services relevant to React and Node.js deployment.
• Experienced delivery practitioner, with in-depth skills in most or all of the following: Agile and Lean software development practices, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration, Test-Driven Development (TDD), automated testing best practices, DevOps
• Client-side programming frameworks, specifically React.js with a focus on the latest features and best practices
• Solid React & Hooks Knowledge: Practical experience with React state management patterns (e.g. Context API, Zustand) and a strong understanding of React Hooks best practices
• Proficiency in TypeScript with React
• Server-side programming using Node.js
• Familiarity with the Next.js framework, for server-side rendering and static site generation
• Proficient with automated testing tools and libraries specifically for React and Node.js ecosystems
• Good knowledge of important software design considerations for React and Node.js applications
