Job summary

North West Hospital and Health Service is seeking a Senior Social Worker to lead high‑level social work services in a complex clinical caseload across North West Queensland. You will assess needs, manage risk and develop patient‑focused interventions within a multidisciplinary team.

You will provide clinical leadership, supervision and contribute to ongoing Social Work practice development, while supporting colleagues in a rural and remote environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a relevant tertiary degree in Social Work and eligibility for AASW membership.
• Includes a valid motor vehicle licence (Class C).
• Pre‑employment screening including criminal history checks is required.
• Working with Children Check will be obtained as per Queensland Health policy.
• Vaccination evidence or immunity for specified diseases may be required.

Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive psychosocial assessments and high‑risk screening.
• Provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to staff and students.
• Apply legislation, policy and best practice across trauma, end‑of‑life care, child protection and elder abuse.
