Job summary

Bell Financial Group is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Melbourne-based Engineering team. You will own reliability across cloud and on-prem environments, lead CI/CD platforms, and drive high availability for critical platforms.

You will mentor engineers, set reliability standards, and collaborate with product teams to reduce toil while improving performance and security in a hybrid AWS/on-prem landscape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS or similar is desirable.
• 6+ years' hands-on experience in software, infrastructure or SRE.
• Strong AWS experience with ECS Fargate, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, Aurora, CloudFront and IAM.
• Experience operating hybrid cloud and on-premise environments.
• Strong Linux administration, networking and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience owning or supporting CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Buildkite).
• IaC experience with AWS CDK, Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Proficiency in TypeScript; Python or Go for automation.
• Observability tools experience (New Relic, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, AWS tooling).
• Demonstrated SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, DR testing and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain SLIs, SLOs and error budgets for critical services.
• Build resilience with redundancy, graceful degradation and safe recovery.
• Develop observability across metrics, logs, traces and synthetic monitoring.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response.
• Lead blameless post-incident reviews and remediation actions.
• Design and run chaos engineering and disaster recovery exercises.
• Validate recovery time and points against actual system behavior.
• Own and enhance CI/CD platforms, deployment pipelines and infra.
• Implement safe deployments including blue/green and canary releases.
• Develop reusable infrastructure-as-code modules and templates.
• Design highly available solutions across AWS and on-premise.
• Identify and reduce operational toil via automation.
• Support and coach engineers in reliability and observability.
