Job summary

Hitachi Rail in Perth, Australia is seeking a senior Signalling System Engineer to lead diverse system engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, from specification to verification. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure interfaces, requirements and design quality are aligned with project goals.

Qualifications

• Engineering/IT degree or equivalent technical background.
• 3–5 years of Transportation System Engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify, manage and fulfil System and Functional Requirements across the project life cycle (Design and Testing).
• Identify and manage project interfaces among subsystems and external interfaces per scope of work.
• Deliver System Engineering documents on time, on budget, on quality; execute Verification activities of System integration documents.
• Propose improvements and updates of design standards in line with process and technology enhancements.
• Support the implementation of the technical solution and interfaces with customers.
• Conduct System Engineering studies (fleet sizing, operational scenarios).
• Ensure timely and effective execution of System Integration tests.

Job Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self‑motivated Senior Signalling System Engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Perth, Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the identification, management and fulfilment of the System and Functional Requirements for the entire life cycle of the project (Design and Testing).
• Ensure the identification and management of the project Interfaces among the subsystems and external interfaces according to the project scope of work.
• Ensure the delivery of the System Engineering technical documents of the project on time, on budget, on quality and the execution of the Verification activities of System integration documents, according to the V&V Plan.
• Ensure the proposal of improvements and updates of the design standards in accordance with process and technology improvements.
• Support the implementation of the adequate and effective technical solution (e.g. interfaces with customer).
• Ensure the execution of the System Engineering studies for the project (fleet sizing calculation, Operational Scenario issue).
• Ensure the timely and effective performance of System Integration tests.

Skills & Knowledge

• Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering or Information Technology Qualifications/ University Degree or Equivalent Technical Background.
• From 3 to 5 years of Transportation System Engineering expertise.
