Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice, Sheriff’s Office, seeks a Senior Sergeant in Goulburn to lead a small team, supervise operations, and ensure court processes, juror management, and court security are delivered to standard.

The role requires Sheriff’s Officer Recruit Training completion, and a commitment to obtaining leadership qualifications. Salary is around $113,494 AUD per year, with superannuation and annual leave loading, plus a flexible, supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of Sheriff’s Officer Recruit Training Program.
• Certificate III in Government to be completed within 12 months.
• Willingness to obtain Certificate IV in Leadership and Management on commencement.
• Meet health, physical and psychological requirements per agency standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and support team members, contributing to team development.
• Allocate resources to ensure efficient court operations and safety of facilities.
• Undertake law enforcement duties in line with legislation, policies and procedures.
• Maintain records to meet financial and operational guidelines; manage roster visibility.
• Provide high-quality services to court users, including judicial officers and jurors.
• Build and maintain relationships with court stakeholders and collaborators.
• Collaborate with Regional Commander and other OICs to assist at other locations when needed.
• Contribute to development and implementation of work-practice improvements.
