Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Security Engineer II for AWS Corporate Security Response in Melbourne. You will lead investigations from detection through remediation, build automation to scale autonomous investigations, and shape AI-powered processes that augment human security expertise.

You will author user stories for autonomous investigation agents, validate outputs to human standards, and design guardrails to ensure safe, reliable operations at massive scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, or IT security experience
• Experience in security operations, incident response, or security engineering
• Hands-on experience investigating security incidents (malware, phishing, credential compromise, or network intrusion)
• Proficiency in Python or similar scripting for security automation
• Experience with log analysis platforms (Splunk/ELK) and EDR tools (CrowdStrike, Carbon Black)

Responsibilities

• Lead Sev2 security investigations end-to-end, from detection to resolution
• Triage Sev2 candidates with clear rationale for decisions
• Analyze open source threat intel and validate indicators quickly
• Author and validate agent investigation stories ensuring human-quality rigor
• Design and test guardrails and policies to prevent evasion by attackers
• Build scripts, detection rules, and automations addressing gaps
• Participate in a global on-call rotation and maintain readiness
• Document investigations and transfer ticket ownership during shift handoffs
