Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy in Australia is seeking a Senior Satellite Communications Engineer for a contract role focused on the Satellite Modernisation Project. This critical position involves designing, implementing, and maintaining satellite systems, both GEO and NGSO. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in satellite communications, strong RF knowledge, and excellent collaborative skills. The role supports the upgrade of satellite infrastructure to improve performance and reliability across remote locations, ensuring operational continuity.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in satellite communications engineering, including GEO and NGSO systems.
• Strong understanding of RF and microwave communication systems, including design, testing, and optimisation.
• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation, including high-level designs and maintenance plans.

Responsibilities

• Integration of high-performance, low-maintenance satellite terminals.
• Deployment of NGSO capabilities to pilot sites.
• Maintenance of high-risk GEO locations.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to geographically dispersed DFAT Posts.
