Job summary

BHP’s Prominent Hill operation seeks a Superintendent Safety & Hygiene to lead safety and occupational hygiene across the site. You will drive governance, risk management and safety improvements while partnering with operations to enable safe, productive production in a technically complex underground mine.

The role requires strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement and a proactive, data-informed approach to continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with Copper SA IMS and site priorities.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in mining or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of safety and occupational hygiene.
• Experience building high-performing teams and guiding safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of site safety and occupational hygiene strategies.
• Provide leadership, governance and technical expertise to improve health and safety performance.
• Lead, develop and support a team of professionals while fostering a culture of trust and high performance.
• Partner with operational stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities and implement practical solutions.
• Strengthen risk management practices and support risk-informed decision-making.
• Govern occupational hygiene monitoring programs to verify control effectiveness and drive improvement.
• Analyse performance trends, risk information and data to inform strategic decisions.
• Collaborate with Asset, regional and global teams to share learnings and enhance service delivery.
• Champion the implementation of the Copper SA IMS and continuous improvement processes.
