Job summary

NXTGEN Industries is seeking a Senior Robotics Engineer to lead the design, development, and field deployment of our autonomous inspection platforms across Australia. This hands-on role covers mechanical integration, embedded interfaces, and autonomous mission software with direct exposure to site deployments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on robotics engineering in industrial settings.
• Proficient in ROS 2 and C++ for real-time control.
• Experience integrating LiDAR, RGB-D, IMU, and thermal sensors.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement robot autonomy stacks using ROS 2 for infrastructure inspection missions.
• Integrate and calibrate multi-modal sensor suites: cameras, LiDAR, thermal, and ultrasonic.
• Develop and validate navigation, localisation, and mission execution modules for unstructured environments.
• Lead field deployments alongside operations teams — commissioning, troubleshooting, and iterating on-site.
• Contribute to hardware selection and mechanical integration decisions with the systems team.
• Define testing frameworks and acceptance criteria for autonomous systems in safety-critical contexts.
