Job summary

Queensland Government is seeking a Senior Inspector (Roadworks) to oversee contract delivery, conduct audits, and manage roadworks inspections in the Wide Bay region. The role reports to the Principal Engineer (Maintenance) and involves risk management, line marking oversight, and liaison with community and authorities.

Qualifications

• Must hold a C class driver’s licence.
• Experience in roadworks, construction or maintenance is preferred.
• Strong governance, risk management and inspection capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Inspect the delivery of contracts including quality, environment, safety and traffic management.
• Conduct or manage audits of contractors' works and quality records for compliance.
• Assist with assessment and inspection of line marking and standards compliance.
• Maintain detailed records and prepare reports suitable for legal proceedings.
• Provide on-ground support during critical incidents and disasters.
• Mentor staff in contract administration and risk management.
• Identify maintenance needs and set remedial priorities.
• Liaise with the community, authorities and developers on transport operations.
• Inspect third party network activities and provide construction/maintenance advice.
