Job summary

Queensland Government's Transport and Main Roads in Rockhampton is seeking a Principal Engineer (Civil) to lead the delivery and maintenance of road infrastructure. You will apply your technical engineering expertise across design, construction, maintenance and operation, while guiding project managers to deliver safe, compliant outcomes.

You will oversee maintenance programs, contract performance, and advise on planning, design options, materials and resources.

Qualifications

• Four-year WA-accredited Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) required.
• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) mandatory.
• Current Class C driver licence required.
• Project management qualifications or certification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage development and delivery of routine and programmed maintenance and road rehabilitation programs.
• Oversee contract performance and construction practices to support efficient processes.
• Manage operational aspects of projects across the project management lifecycle.
• Apply engineering standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements.
• Address quality and environmental requirements throughout project delivery.
• Provide specialist advice on planning, design options, materials, resources and construction practices.
• Coordinate resources, encourage teamwork and support achievement of outcomes.
• Build stakeholder relationships and proactively manage high-risk and sensitive matters.
