Job summary
SMEC in Newcastle is seeking a Senior Engineer – Roads & Highways to lead design and delivery across a portfolio of transport projects. Based in Newcastle, you will work with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate planning, design and delivery, ensuring integrated transport outcomes for clients.
You will bring 8–12 years of experience in roads infrastructure, strong technical design skills, and proven project management capability.
Qualifications
- 8–12 years of experience delivering roads and transport projects.
- Strong design and delivery capabilities for road/highways.
- Proven project management including scope, schedule, budget.
- Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs and teams.
- Excellent client and stakeholder engagement skills.
Responsibilities
- Deliver road and highway design solutions across project lifecycle.
- Undertake geometric design, corridor modelling, and reviews.
- Manage defined work packages: scope, programme, budget, quality.
- Coordinate across transport disciplines and teams to deliver outcomes.
- Prepare and review reports, specifications, and design documents.
- Support project planning, resourcing, risk management and commercial performance.
- Mentor Graduate and developing Engineers and provide guidance.
