Job summary

The Star Brisbane is seeking a Senior Risk & Compliance Advisor to strengthen risk and compliance across a regulated environment. You will partner with business leaders to identify, assess, and manage operational risks while ensuring AML/CTF and Safer Gambling obligations are met.

You will lead risk assessments, control testing, incident investigations, and remediation activities, embedding risk management frameworks and enhancing compliance processes across the organization.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years' experience in risk, compliance, governance, or a related field.
• Experience in regulated gaming/hospitality industries preferred.
• Ability to embed risk and compliance into day-to-day activities.

Join The Star Brisbane as a Senior Risk & Compliance Advisor and play a key role in strengthening our risk and compliance framework across a dynamic and highly regulated environment. In this influential role, you'll partner with business leaders to identify, assess, and manage operational risks while ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations, including AML/CTF and Safer Gambling requirements.

You'll lead risk assessments, control testing, incident investigations, and remediation activities, providing practical advice and actionable insights that support informed decision-making. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you'll help embed risk management frameworks, enhance compliance processes, and foster a proactive risk culture. What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience in risk management, compliance, audit, or a regulated operational environment, with the ability to embed risk and compliance practices into day-to-day business activities.
• Strong knowledge of Queensland casino regulatory requirements, AML/CTF obligations, and risk governance frameworks, with the ability to interpret and apply complex legislation and compliance standards.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience conducting risk assessments, control testing, compliance monitoring, and identifying practical solutions to emerging risks.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence decision-making and clearly present risk and compliance insights to a wide range of audiences.
• High attention to detail and a structured approach to managing incidents, risks, controls, and compliance activities in a fast-paced environment.
• A collaborative and ethical professional who demonstrates integrity, sound judgement, and a commitment to maintaining strong governance and regulatory standards.
  

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Risk Management, Business, Law, or a related discipline will be highly regarded, together with 4-6 years' experience in risk, compliance, governance, or a similar field. Experience within the gaming, hospitality, or other highly regulated industries will be viewed favourably.
