Job summary

The Star Brisbane is seeking a Risk & Compliance Manager to lead delivery of risk excellence across its operations. You will oversee the Property Risk & Compliance team, driving frameworks, controls, and governance to ensure safe, compliant, and sustainable operations.

In this senior role, you will advise on AML/CTF and regulatory obligations, lead risk assessments, and mentor teams while partnering with senior leaders to build a strong risk-aware culture across the business.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years' experience in risk, audit, compliance, finance, law, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of risk management principles, governance practices, and regulatory obligations, including AML/CTF and Queensland casino regulations.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to mentor, develop, and inspire high-performing teams while fostering a strong risk-aware culture.
• Excellent report writing, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to communicate risk and compliance information to senior leaders and governance forums.
• Ability to translate risk frameworks into practical business outcomes and drive remediation strategies.

Responsibilities

What we're looking for:

• Proven experience in risk management, compliance, audit, or a highly regulated environment, with the ability to translate risk frameworks into practical business outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of risk management principles, governance practices, and regulatory obligations, including Queensland casino regulations and AML/CTF requirements.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to mentor, develop, and inspire high-performing teams while fostering a strong risk-aware culture.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex risks, identify trends, and develop effective remediation strategies.
• Excellent report writing, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to communicate risk and compliance information to senior leaders and governance forums.
• Highly organised and adaptable, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced operational environment.

We're looking for candidates with 6-8 years' experience in risk, audit, compliance, finance, law, or a related field. Relevant tertiary qualifications and professional memberships such as RMIA or IIA will be highly regarded.
