Job description

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Risk & Controls Specialist to support the design and implementation of a new Enterprise Risk Management Framework. This is an initial 3–4 month contract within financial services and requires someone who has previously built an Enterprise Risk Management Framework from scratch within a banking environment. This role will suit a highly experienced, hands‑on GRC professional who combines strong Enterprise Risk expertise with the ability to work across complex stakeholder groups and deliver within a high‑pressure environment. A Big 4 or management consulting background is highly preferred, with the successful contractor expected to personally drive the framework design, documentation and implementation rather than simply provide oversight or advisory support.

Key Skills & Experience

• 10+ years' experience across Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC)
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing an Enterprise Risk Management Framework from scratch within banking
• Previous Big 4 (Deloitte, EY, PwC or KPMG) or other management/risk consulting experience is highly preferred.
• Deep experience in risk and controls identification, assessment and control framework design
• Strong knowledge of risk appetite, risk taxonomy, governance, policies, processes and supporting ERM documentation
• Experience designing and documenting Business Continuity / BCP processes and procedures
• Demonstrated experience developing RFPs for GRC platforms, including requirements gathering and supporting platform evaluation and selection
• Strong workshop facilitation skills across Risk, Legal, Operations and senior business stakeholders
• Must be genuinely hands‑on and comfortable personally developing frameworks, policies, procedures, requirements, controls and supporting documentation
• Proven ability to operate effectively in high‑pressure, fast‑paced environments and deliver against tight timeframes
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work effectively with challenging stakeholders, navigate conflicting views and drive outcomes
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and deliver tangible outcomes within a short‑term engagement
