Job summary

FinXL is recruiting an Enterprise Architect (GRC) to lead architectural strategy for a major banking client in Sydney. You will assess a 40+ application GRC ecosystem, design target-state patterns, and drive modernization and platform consolidation at scale.

The role requires deep expertise in risk, compliance, and governance architectures, data virtualization, and AI readiness within regulated environments, with senior stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of IT experience in banking/financial services, focusing on Risk, Compliance and Governance architectures.
• Experience with large-scale EA, application rationalization and target-state design.
• Hands-on with GRC/IRM platforms.
• Knowledge of data architectures: data mesh, virtualization, lakehouses, API-driven SaaS.
• Strong executive communication to C-level committees.

Responsibilities

• Execute a comprehensive current-state architecture audit and discovery across 40+ risk and compliance applications.
• Evaluate existing data flows, custom integration patterns, workflow bottlenecks, and manual processes across all risk domains.
• Assess architectural feasibility and ROI for unified data and analytics overlay layers versus full platform consolidation.
• Formulate strategic criteria for application retention, modernization, platform consolidation, and decommissioning.
• Design target-state integration patterns enabling real-time risk reporting and governance.

FinXL is seeking an Enterprise Architect (GRC) to join our consulting team and be deployed with a leading Banking client on a 12+ months contract in Sydney CBD. This position requires deep strategic vision and technical enterprise architectural authority to assess, rationalize, and modernize a complex GRC technology ecosystem spanning over 40 applications. You will serve as the architectural lead delivering a target-state blueprint, evaluating data virtualization layers, embedded AI capabilities, and driving platform migration strategies to align technology with critical regulatory mandates. Support key long-term programs of work! GRC technologies, banking/finance background and current state assessment!

Responsibilities

• Execute a comprehensive current-state architecture audit and discovery across 40+ risk and compliance applications.
• Evaluate existing data flows, custom integration patterns, workflow bottlenecks, and manual processes across all risk domains.
• Assess architectural feasibility and ROI for introducing unified data and analytics overlay layers versus total platform consolidation.
• Formulate strategic criteria for application retention, modernization, platform consolidation, and legacy system decommissioning.
• Design target-state integration patterns that enable real-time risk reporting, automated issue tracking, and cross-functional governance.
• Benchmark platform capabilities against modern enterprise solutions and evaluate AI and machine learning readiness within compliance frameworks.
• Partner with executive technology leaders and C-suite business stakeholders to build business cases and transformation roadmaps.

Key Skills & Experience

• Over 15 years of IT experience within banking or financial services, specializing in Risk, Compliance, and Governance domain architectures.
• Extensive background in Enterprise Architecture, including large-scale application rationalization and target-state strategy design.
• Hands-on architectural exposure to major enterprise GRC/IRM platforms.
• Strong knowledge of modern data architectures, including data mesh, virtualization, lakehouses, and API-driven enterprise SaaS frameworks.
• Deep familiarity with modern workflow orchestration engines and operationalizing AI capabilities within regulated environments.
• Practical understanding of key regulatory frameworks and operational risk mandates.
• Superior executive communication skills with a proven ability to present complex technical strategies directly to C-level committees.

Engagement Details

• 12+ months contract with a Banking client.
• Hybrid working model with 3 fixed days/ week in the office in Sydney CBD.
