Job summary

Transgrid in NSW seeks a Senior Regulatory Analyst to shape regulatory and policy frameworks supporting Australia’s energy transition. You’ll lead economic and regulatory analysis across initiatives, supporting submissions, revenue determinations, and policy reform, influencing how critical energy infrastructure is planned and funded.

Qualifications

• Experience in regulation, regulatory economics, energy markets, policy, government, or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of electricity network regulation and National Electricity Rules frameworks.
• Analytical ability to assess qualitative and quantitative evidence and make defendable recommendations.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to deliver outcomes within timeframes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a proactive, collaborative approach.
• Tertiary qualifications in economics, law, commerce, engineering, public policy, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Regulatory Analyst to join our Regulatory Strategy team and play a key role in shaping the regulatory and policy frameworks that support Australia's energy transition.

In this role, you will contribute to the development and delivery of Transgrid's regulatory strategy through economic, financial and regulatory analysis across a diverse portfolio of initiatives. You will support major regulatory submissions, revenue determinations, investment assessments and policy reform activities, helping to influence how critical energy infrastructure is planned, funded and delivered.

Working alongside experienced regulatory, policy and commercial professionals, you will engage with key stakeholders across the business, government, regulators and industry bodies to provide insights that support strategic decision-making. You will have the opportunity to work on complex and high-profile projects that directly contribute to the future of Australia's energy system.

What you’ll do

Lead regulatory analysis and deliver evidence-based recommendations that support Transgrid’s strategic objectives.

Prepare regulatory submissions, revenue proposals, briefing papers, and decision papers for internal and external stakeholders.

Assess regulatory reforms, AER decisions and National Electricity Rules requirements, identifying risks, opportunities and business impacts.

Coordinate regulatory reporting, RIT-T processes, and stakeholder consultation activities.

Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members while contributing to a collaborative team culture.

What you’ll bring

Experience within regulation, regulatory economics, energy markets, policy, government, or a similarly complex environment.

Existing strong knowledge of, or the demonstrated ability to quickly acquire strong knowledge of electricity network regulation, regulatory economics, the National Electricity Rules relevant jurisdictional legislative frameworks.

Strong analytical capability, including the ability to assess qualitative and quantitative evidence, interpret complex requirements, and produce defensible recommendations.

Strong stakeholder management capability and ability to deliver quality outcomes with agreed timeframes.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a positive,can-do attitude with a strong aptitude to learn and confidence working in evolving environments.

Tertiary qualifications in economics, law, commerce, engineering, public policy, or related discipline.
