Job summary

Zip Co Limited in Australia is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer for a 9‑month fixed term contract. You will design, build and maintain scalable automated testing across API, web and mobile layers, embedding quality into CI/CD and partnering with engineers to raise release confidence.

You will lead quality initiatives, expand automation coverage for key customer journeys, and explore AI-assisted techniques to improve test design and productivity. The role is hybrid, with in‑office days in Sydney.

Qualifications

• Hands-on quality engineering experience across API, web, mobile and integration layers.
• Strong coding and automation capabilities for API and web testing.
• Experience embedding automated testing into CI/CD pipelines with quality gates.
• Ability to work independently across multiple engineering teams and navigate ambiguity.
• Familiarity with modern quality practices, risk-based testing and maintainable automation.
• Experience with fintech or regulated environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable automated testing across API, web, mobile and integration layers.
• Lead quality engineering for priority initiatives, including risk assessment and release readiness.
• Embed automated testing and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines to enable confident releases.
• Improve automation coverage for critical customer journeys focusing on reliability and diagnostics.
• Collaborate with software engineers to identify quality gaps and implement solutions.
• Explore AI-assisted approaches to improve test design and productivity.
• Create reusable frameworks and tooling to sustain quality practices.
• Coach engineers to strengthen ownership of quality and communicate risks clearly.
