Job summary

Western Power in Perth is seeking a Senior Public Impact Specialist to drive public safety outcomes and lead investigations within the network. The role combines technical expertise with stakeholder engagement and strategic leadership to protect communities and support safe operation.

You will build relationships with communities, contractors and government bodies, lead notifiable investigations and shape risk management initiatives for a cleaner energy future in Western Australia.

Qualifications

• Experience in utilities, energy or high-risk environments.
• Proven ability to manage public safety and asset protection risks.
• Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
• Knowledge of safety, regulatory, planning requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on public safety and asset protection near Western Power assets.
• Assess developments and third-party works impacting the network.
• Build relationships with communities, contractors and government stakeholders.
• Lead investigations into public safety incidents and non-compliance events.
• Identify root causes and drive corrective actions and risk mitigation.
• Analyse data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Develop public safety programs and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Partner with teams to manage third-party risk and safe network outcomes.
• Act as conduit for notifiable investigations with the regulator.

Senior Public Impact Specialist - Full Time - Perth

As our Senior Public Impact Specialist, you'll play a critical role in protecting communities and supporting the safe operation of Western Power's network. This unique opportunity combines technical expertise, stakeholder influence and strategic leadership, allowing you to drive public safety outcomes, lead complex investigations, shape risk management initiatives, and build trusted relationships that enhance community confidence and organisational performance.

What you'll be doing

• Provide expert advice on public safety, network protection and activities near Western Power assets.
• Assess development applications, land use changes, encroachments and third-party works impacting the network.
• Build trusted relationships with communities, contractors, developers, industry and government stakeholders.
• Lead investigations into public safety incidents, asset damage and non-compliance events.
• Identify root causes and drive sustainable corrective actions and risk mitigation measures.
• Analyse incident, risk and performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and deliver public safety programs, education initiatives and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Partner with operational and project teams to manage third-party risks and support safe, reliable network outcomes.
• Act as the internal conduit for notifiable investigations and engagement with the regulator.

About You

• Experience in utilities, energy, infrastructure, construction or another high-risk operational environment.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills across community, industry, contractors, developers and government agencies.
• Experience managing public safety, asset protection and network-related risks.
• Demonstrated incident investigation experience, including identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Sound knowledge of relevant safety, regulatory, planning and industry requirements.
• Strong influencing, relationship-building and collaborative problem-solving skills.
• supported by significant experience in utilities, energy, infrastructure, construction or other high-risk operational environments.
• Relevant tertiary qualification, trade qualification, or equivalent demonstrated experience in engineering, electrical, safety, risk, stakeholder engagement, infrastructure, utilities, or a related discipline.
• Qualification in incident investigation, such as ICAM, Lead Incident Investigator, Government Investigations, or equivalent.
