Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking a Senior Specialist, Psychosocial Safety on the Camperdown Campus (Gadigal Country). This full-time, continuing opportunity focuses on expert psychosocial safety guidance, risk mitigation, and embedding a proactive safety culture across faculties and business units.

You will work with HSW Partnering, HR Partnering and Staff Health Support to lead complex risk management, coaching leaders, and delivering scalable prevention initiatives.

Qualifications

• Post-graduate qualifications in Psychology or Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Accreditation/registration with a relevant health or wellbeing professional association/organisation or legislative body.
• Expert knowledge of risk management practices and application of government legislation, codes of practice and Australian standards as they relate to psychosocial risk.
• Experience at a senior level in preparation and provision of specialist advice, recommendations and solutions, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert psychosocial safety advice on complex matters and critical incidents.
• Analyse and interpret data to deliver meaningful insights for proactive psychosocial risk management.
• Mature the Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) in line with standards and best practice.
• Partner with HSW Teams and leadership to embed HSMS architecture across portfolios.
• Support institutional reporting and leadership capability uplift.
• Foster a systems-based safety culture with strong worker consultation and regulatory alignment.
