The Victorian Department of Health seeks a Senior Project Officer in Intergovernmental Relations to act as Secretariat for the Nationally Funded Centres program. The role oversees budgets, payments and receipts, coordinating with states, territories and the Commonwealth to transition to new funding arrangements.
Key tasks include drafting Cabinet and Ministerial materials, advising stakeholders, and contributing to national health funding analysis and reporting.
As the Senior Project Officer in Intergovernmental Relations your role will be Secretariat for the Nationally Funded Centres program. Nationally Funded Centres Secretariat responsibility has transferred to Victoria for 2026-27 and is a program that provides funding for highly specialised, low volume services, across states and territories. The role is a time limited project role to transition Nationally Funded Centres as a standalone program in 2026-27 into National Health Reform Agreement activity based funding arrangements in 2027-28. As Nationally Funded Centres Secretariat you will be responsible for budgets, payments and receipts for the program for all states and territories. The role requires strong stakeholder management skills, project planning, financial acumen, and evidence-based advice to support decision-making. As a role within Intergovernmental Relations you will engage with stakeholders within the department and Victorian Government, and with counterparts in the Commonwealth, states and territories. In addition to the primary Nationally Funded Centres Secretariat function, the role will contribute to broader Intergovernmental Relations priorities as required, including supporting analysis, coordination and advice on national health funding arrangements, cross-jurisdictional funding matters, Commonwealth-state engagement, and intergovernmental reporting or briefing requirements.
