Qualifications

• Degree in project management, engineering, environmental science or related field.
• Experience in government, mining, environmental, infrastructure, construction or mine remediation (desirable).
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Physically fit and able to work in remote locations and challenging terrain.
• Current open C class driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of abandoned mine projects including planning, governance and risk management.
• Assist procurement with scopes of work, specifications and tender documentation.
• Manage contractors from procurement to completion, tracking budgets and schedules.
• Review procedures, management plans and technical documentation to support compliance and continuous improvement.
• Review technical and consultant reports, assessments and data, providing recommendations to management.
• Work with internal stakeholders, technical specialists, contractors and government agencies to support project delivery.
• Conduct site visits and ensure contractors meet WHS requirements and departmental procedures.
• Prepare project documentation, briefs and reports, with occasional travel to remote sites.

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Project Officer (AO6) to join a government organisation. In this role, you will undertake activities to support the management of risks associated with abandoned mines.

Location: Parkhurst QLD(Rockhampton region)
Hourly rate: 78.02 per hour (incl casual loading)
Contract:Full-time, 9-month contract with possible extension | 36.25 hours/week | Mon-Fri

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of abandoned mine projects, including planning, governance, reporting and risk management.
• Assist with procurement, including scopes of work, specifications and tender documentation.

• Review technical and consultant reports, assessments and data, providing recommendations to management.

About You
