Job summary

Western NSW PHN is seeking a Senior Project Officer Aboriginal Disaster Preparedness to lead Aboriginal disaster resilience and emergency preparedness across Western NSW. The role is based in Dubbo, Orange or Bathurst with a hybrid work option and strong collaboration with communities and partners.

You will coordinate initiatives, engage with ACCHOs, AH&MRC and Local Health Districts to strengthen community preparedness for emergencies and recovery efforts in NSW.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating community disaster resilience and emergency preparedness initiatives.
• Ability to engage with Aboriginal communities and ACCHOs and partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Aboriginal disaster resilience, emergency preparedness, response and recovery initiatives across Western NSW.
• Collaborate with Aboriginal communities, health organisations, AH&MRC, LHDs and government partners to strengthen resilience.

The Senior Project Officer Aboriginal Disaster Resilience and Emergency Preparedness is an identified Aboriginal position responsible for leading and coordinating Aboriginal disaster resilience, emergency preparedness, response and recovery initiatives across Western NSW.

Funded through the NSW Ministry of Health Flood Recovery Program, the position will work collaboratively with Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs), the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council (AH&MRC), Local Health Districts, emergency management agencies and government partners to strengthen community resilience and preparedness for emergencies and disaster events.
