Role Description

We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager to oversee the delivery a major building project for the community.

This is a complex, sophisticated project, which will suit someone from a Construction or Contract Administration background.

This position places a heavy emphasis on the construction phase of the project, as well as the later stages of design, procurement and delivery. Because of its nature, your ability to manage builders will be crucial.

Located in Sydney, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing the early stages of construction works on site.

  • Completing design of the next phases of the project.

  • Overseeing tendering to appoint subsequent contractors.

  • Procurement of consultants and industry specialists.

  • Managing the technical construction/delivery phases of the project, overseeing contract management, variations and claims.

  • Fostering relationships with key stakeholders, providing regular updates and reports as required and being able to challenge when required.

Candidate Profile

To be successful in this role, you’ll need demonstrated experience delivering complex building projects, as a Senior Project Engineer; Senior Project Manager; Contract Administrator; Site Manager turned Consultant; or other related role.

The successful candidate will have 6-10 years of Construction experience, mixed with Consulting experience (or ready to transition into the Consulting space).

You’ll also need:

  • A willingness to travel to site to oversee contractors.

  • Strong commercial acumen and in-depth project governance understanding.

  • Communication skills that will allow you to guide the client and set clear expectations with Contractors – striking the balance between consultation and negotiation.

  • High attention to detail and a customer-focused mindset.

  • Experience with design and construction phases of projects, ideally from complex sectors such as Civic & Culture, Living, Residential, Accommodation, Healthcare, Education, Industrial, Commercial or other related building projects.

  • Qualifications in Project Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction, or related discipline.

What’s In It For You

This role is a great opportunity for someone ready to springboard their career. This is a unique community project that will be noticed amongst the industry.

  • The ability to broaden your project expertise – we offer a range of projects across multiple sectors, giving you access to the full Infrastructure spectrum.

  • Work consultant hours in a hybrid environment, giving you greater flexibility and time to work/live in a way that best suits you.

  • Ongoing career development and continuous progression opportunities. Upon joining RPI, you’ll receive your own tailored Professional Development Plan to help you reach your career goals.

  • A strong, supportive management team that cares about you. We’re passionate about what we do, and we’re proud to prioritise the development of our staff.

  • Access to events, activities and initiatives driven by our popular Health & Wellbeing + Diversity & Inclusion committees.
