Job summary

Automic Group is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our software development team in Sydney. This role sits in the Technology function and aligns with PMO standards, governance, and executive reporting.

You will partner with engineering, product, cybersecurity, operations, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable software solutions through the full project lifecycle. The role emphasizes end-to-end delivery, RAID logging, budget and forecasting, and clear communication

Qualifications

  • This role requires experience delivering software development projects in agile, hybrid, or waterfall environments.
  • Strong SDLC understanding, technical delivery concepts, and systems integration knowledge.
  • Proven PMO governance, documentation, and reporting competence.
  • PM certifications (PMP/Prince/AgilePM) are highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of software development projects using PMO frameworks.
  • Set baselines for schedule, cost, scope, quality, and risk; manage changes.
  • Identify and manage risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies (RAID).
  • Develop mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity.
  • Serve as liaison between delivery teams, product owners, sponsors, and executives.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and delivery timelines.
  • Present status, risks, milestones, decisions, and financials clearly.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting with PMO/Finance.
  • Coordinate resource planning and ensure optimal utilization.

We are growing and are looking for experienced Project Manager to join our software development team in Sydney!

About the Role

This role sits within the Technology function and requires strong alignment with PMO standards, disciplined governance, and the ability to produce clear, insightful reporting for senior executives and the board. The Project Manager will work closely with engineering, product, cybersecurity, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery across the project lifecycle to understand business requirements and deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality technical solutions!

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading end-to-end delivery of software development projects using established PMO frameworks, ensuring consistent application of project methodology, documentation, and governance processes.
  • Establishing project baselines for schedule, cost, scope, quality, and risk, maintaining strict control of changes through formal change management processes.
  • Identifying, recording, and actively managing project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies in accordance with PMO and ISMS practices.
  • Developing mitigation strategies and streamline items appropriately to ensure project continuity.
  • Ensuring traceability of decisions through disciplined RAID log management
  • Serve as the primary liaison between delivery teams, product owners, business sponsors, and senior executives.
  • Managing stakeholder expectations, ensuring alignment on priorities, scope, and delivery timelines.
  • Presenting project status, risks, progress against milestones, critical decisions, and financial performance in a concise and structured manner.
  • Preparing and managing project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting in collaboration with Finance and the PMO.
  • Coordinating resource planning with team leads and ensure appropriate utilisation of internal and external resources
  • Embedding quality assurance practices throughout the project lifecycle
Required Skills / Qualifications
  • Proven experience managing software development projects within agile, hybrid, or waterfall environments.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices, technical delivery concepts, and systems integration.
  • Demonstrated competence in PMO governance, documentation, and reporting standards.
  • Certification in PMP, Prince or AgilePM would be extremely beneficial
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to summarise complex topics succinctly for senior and board audiences.
  • Experience with project budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with project tooling (Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Monday.com, or equivalent).
  • Experience from within regulated environments like Finance, Fintech or Enterprise tech would be valuable
