Job summary

V/Line is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex business and technology transformation initiatives that deliver meaningful outcomes. You will work with senior leaders and stakeholders to drive projects from initiation through to implementation and benefits realisation.

Role covers medium to large enterprise initiatives, process improvements, organisational change, and technology-enabled transformations in a dynamic operating environment, using Agile and Waterfall methods

Qualifications

• 8+ years’ experience managing medium–large software projects on the business side.
• Proven ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders up to Executive/Director level.
• Experience presenting project reports to Executive/Director leadership.
• Tertiary qualifications in project management or related field (desirable).

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex business and technology transformation initiatives that deliver meaningful organisation outcomes. Working closely with senior leaders, business stakeholders, delivery teams. You will be responsible for driving projects from initiation through to implementation and benefits realisation.

This Role will oversee medium to large -scale enterprise initiatives, business process improvements, organisational change, customer and employee experience enhancements and technology-enabled transformations.

You will be comfortable navigating ambiguity, building strong stakeholder relationships and leading cross-functional teams to successfully deliver change in a complex operating environment.

Projects will vary in size and complexity and will be delivered using a pragmatic blend of Agile and Waterfall methodologies, tailored to business needs and outcomes.

Key Accountabilities include:

• Translate business needs into a clear, measurable project aligned with the broader business strategy.
• Define project scope, approach, and plan to ensure effective delivery of outcomes and benefits, addressing all standards and quality needs.
• Lead a cross-functional project team, ensuring the right capability and capacity, fostering a high-performance team culture, and addressing impediments.
• Manage project financials, schedule, risks, and issues proactively, identifying and resolving potential barriers early.
• Identify and manage stakeholders to ensure their active involvement and commitment throughout the project.
• Ensure robust quality management and technical assurance in line with V/Line’s Enterprise Project Management Framework and relevant standards.
• Provide clear, consistent project progress and status updates through targeted and timely communications, including regular status reports.

About you

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following key selection criteria within their application, as this forms part of our merit-based recruitment process:

• Must have 8+ years’ experience successfully managing medium – large scale software projects, exclusively on the business side (not vendor)
• Proven ability to communicate and effectively build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, from junior up to Executive/Director level
• Demonstrated experience successfully conducting presentations and presenting project reports to Executive/Director level leadership
• Tertiary qualifications in project management or related field (desirable)

Salary for this position is commensurate to the successful candidate’s aligned skills and experience to the position.
