Job summary

UGL Pty Limited is delivering a major hyperscale data centre project in Melbourne, seeking a Senior Project Engineer - Hydraulic Services to own the hydraulic and plumbing works. You will lead specialist subcontractors from procurement through testing, commissioning and handover, collaborating with MEP teams and senior management to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and drive hydraulic subcontractor performance, resource planning and programme execution to achieve milestones.
• Direct and coordinate installation of potable water, hot water, drainage and sanitary systems.
• Manage hydraulic interfaces with civil, mechanical, electrical and BMS trades for seamless integration.
• Review and approve technical submissions, shop drawings, RFIs and design changes.
• Plan, oversee and execute testing, commissioning and defect rectification, including pressure testing and system validation.
• Deliver hydraulic works through approvals, certification and handover documentation.

Job description

Deliver critical infrastructure powering Australia's digital future. UGL is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer - Hydraulic Services - to join the team delivering a major hyperscale data centre project in Melbourne. Reporting to the MEP Project Manager and working with the MEP Construction Manager and Engineering Manager, you will take ownership of the delivery of all hydraulic and plumbing works across the project, leading and managing specialist plumbing subcontractors from procurement and installation through testing, commissioning and handover. This is a unique opportunity to work on one of Australia's most technically complex construction projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver mission-critical infrastructure while leveraging the global expertise of ACS Group, HOCHTIEF, Turner and Leighton Asia.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and drive hydraulic subcontractor performance, resource planning and programme execution to achieve construction and commissioning milestones.
• Direct and coordinate the installation of potable water, hot water, drainage and sanitary systems, including pumps, tanks, metering and treatment equipment.
• Manage and resolve hydraulic interfaces with civil, mechanical, electrical and BMS trades to ensure seamless system integration.
• Review, challenge and approve technical submissions, shop drawings, RFIs and design changes to maintain compliance, buildability and commercial control.
• Plan, oversee and execute testing, commissioning and defect rectification, including pressure testing, flushing, disinfection and system validation.
• Deliver and close out hydraulic works through authority approvals, certification, handover documentation, training and operational readiness.

About You

• Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
• Proven experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer delivering hydraulic and plumbing packages on major construction projects.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic services, including sewer, stormwater, potable water, rainwater and trade waste systems.
• Demonstrated experience managing specialist subcontractors and coordinating multiple stakeholders
• Experience delivering projects in data centres, hospitals, defence facilities, airports, laboratories or large-scale commercial developments will be highly regarded.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work within a fast-paced project environment and drive successful project outcomes.
