Job summary

John Holland Group in Sydney seeks an experienced Senior Project Engineer with strong HV and LV experience to lead electrical, mechanical and systems work on the Sydney Metro West Linewide Project.

You will manage construction, design, HSQE, and financial aspects, lead stakeholders, and drive risk mitigation on a major rail infrastructure program. The role requires a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering and a proven track record on major rail projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Rail infrastructure experience is essential.
• Knowledge of HV and LV distribution is required.
• Commercial experience including planning and reporting is needed.
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder liaison are important.
• Safety leadership in a dynamic project environment is expected.

Responsibilities

• Design management: coordinate design teams to feed construction inputs into detailed designs and construction specifications
• HSQE leadership: drive health, safety, quality and environmental management of projects on site with construction partners and subcontractors
• Financial management: forecast costs and revenue, manage contracts and maximise profit margin
• Stakeholder management: engage and maintain relationships with client, subcontractors, community and external parties
• Risk management: monitor delivery milestones and mitigate obstacles as early as possible

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer with strong HV and LV experince to join our Electrical/Mechanical/Systems Team on the Sydney Metro West Linewide Project.

Key Repsonsibilities:

• Construction management: develop and manage engineering, procurement and construction activities and coordinate resources to deliver the works within budget, time, quality and regulatory standards to meet Client's expectation and maximise KPI requirements
• Design management: collaborate and coordinate design team to feed construction inputs into detailed designs and construction specifications to ensure the "design-to-build" approach in the delivery lifecycle
• HSQE leadership: drive health, safety, quality and environmental management of projects, influencing behavioural changes as required on site with construction partners and subcontractors.
• Financial management: ensure strong contract, commercial and financial risk management, accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue, take corrective action in line with authority and reporting frameworks and maximise the profit margin for the project
• Stakeholder management: Ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged and that beneficial relationships between the project and the client, subcontractors, community and other external parties are developed and maintained
• Risk management: proactively monitor on-site project delivery performance against identified project delivery milestones, identify and report any potential obstacles to success and seek solutions to avert or mitigate or escape as early as possible.

About You:

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Previous Major project experience in Rail Infrastructure.
• Extensive knowledge and proven experience in electrical engineering, i.e. HV and LV distribution.
• Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning and reporting on progress, cost and risk.
• Excellent communication skills of positive influence and liaising with internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis.
• A safety leader with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and busy environment.
