Job summary

John Holland Pty Ltd is seeking experienced Track Build Supervisors to join the Sydney Metro West Linewide Project. You will coordinate on-site teams to deliver relevant scopes of work in accordance with project plans and schedules within time and budget.

The role emphasizes leadership, safety, and collaboration with subcontractors and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery and quality of design implementation.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification or similar is required.
  • Diploma in Building/Construction is preferred.
  • Strong track record in track build and construction supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate on-site teams and subcontractors to deliver scope on time and within plans.
  • Lead health, safety, and environment management on site.
  • Develop work methods and short term construction programs; plan daily/weekly production.
  • Maintain strong stakeholder communication and provide regular reports to project leadership.
  • Ensure cost control including budgets and financial implications within authority.

About The Project:

Sydney Metro West is a transformational 24 km underground railway connecting Sydney CBD to Parramatta, with stations at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays, Pyrmont and Hunter Street.

The Linewide package connects the entire system, delivering the critical rail infrastructure and technology that bring the metro network to life.

Project offices are located across several Sydney locations including the CBD, Clyde, Rosehill, The Bays and Burwood North.

The Role:

John Holland is seeking experienced Track Build Supervisors to join the Sydney Metro West Linewide Project.

This role will see you coordinate on-site teams to deliver relevant scopes of work in accordance with project plans and specifications to achieve effective performance in accordance with detailed short-term programs and schedules within the designated time and budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the work and performance of multiple teams and subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
  • Provide and take leadership responsibility in health, safety, and environment management.
  • Contribute to development of work methods and rolling short term construction programs and plan daily/weekly production work.
  • Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive, and professional communication to keep key personnel informed.
  • Complete progress reporting, and activities, reports for shift handovers and consistent regular reporting to the Superintendent or Project Manager
  • Ensure compliance of commercial and financial costs including budgets and the implications of directions within your authority limits
  • Read and understand plans, review design documentation, read drawings, and provide constructive review and implementing of final designs
  • Ensure contractual mechanisms of subcontractors
  • Identify and mitigate risks prior to works commencing, communicate with and engage relevant stakeholders to control risk and contribute to build a risk management culture.
  • Select, train and develop leading hands and ensure the observance of safety, other work standards, and fair and reasonable application of industrial agreements.
  • Maintain effective consultation with various workers’ representatives and committees on industrial and safety subjects handling issues as they arise and referring major issues to the Project Manager
About You:

Qualifications:

  • Trade Qualification or similar.
  • Qualifications and training, e.g. Diploma, Building/Construction.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated Track Build previous experience.
  • Top-down track slab construction.
  • Major project experience across Construction, Infrastructure and Rail.
  • Substantial Industry experience in Trade and Construction.
  • Technical competency and understanding in the area that supervising.
  • Skill in review of design documents, ability to understand drawings, provide constructability review and implement final design plans.
  • Strong understanding and focus for Safety.
  • People and Performance Management of subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour.
