Job summary

Georgiou, now part of STRABAG SE, invites applications for a Senior Project Engineer to join our civil and engineering teams on the Wave Stage 1 Brownfield package in Beerwah. The role will be based in Fortitude Valley until April and then site-based in Beerwah.

You will monitor progress, manage budgets, lead engineers, and coordinate contractors while upholding safety and quality. A Civil Engineering degree and rail project experience are preferred; we offer training, mentoring, and a

  • Experience on rail projects is highly regarded.
  • Strong project engineering and management skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor progress on quality, timelines and budgets with regular reporting to Project Manager.
  • Demonstrate financial acumen when making decisions and manage sub-contractors.
  • Prepare scopes of works and manage commercial arrangements with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Mentor and lead a team of project and site engineers.
  • Promote safety culture and ensure safe work practices on site.

Join Georgiou and Beerwah Coast Connect Alliance for the Wave Stage 1 Brownfield package as a Senior Project Engineer to join our civil and engineering teams. This package delivers critical upgrades at Beerwah, including heavy rail works, a major station overhaul, and seamless integration with the North Coast Line and the Beerburrum–Nambour Rail Upgrade. The role will be based in Fortitude Valley untill April and will be site based in Beerwah for the remainder of the project.

What you’ll do (but not limited to):
  • Monitor project progress in terms of quality, timeliness and budgets including regular program review and report to the Project Manager
  • Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen when making decisions
  • Prepare scope of works, and effectively manage commercial arrangements or sub‑contractors
  • Manage consultant, subcontractor & supplier procurement, ensuring comprehensive scope of works are prepared and included in the tender documentation
  • Manage and mentor a team of project, site and graduate engineers
  • Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes
  • Directly influence the safety culture through the promotion of safe work practices to all project personnel to create an exemplary safety culture aligned to the values of 'Safety is My Way'
What you’re good at:
  • Strong and demonstrated experience in project engineering and a working knowledge of project management
  • Strong prior project experiencein buildings, structures, substantiallifts, FRP and concrete decks.
  • Prior experience on Rail projects highly regarded.
  • Competent in planning and organising work schedules and a demonstrated ability to deliver to timelines
  • Proven experience in project engineering with project management knowledge and understanding with experience in the construction engineering sector
  • Ability to provide active professional direction to supervise management of works contracts, monitor contractor progress and effectively negotiate variations, claims and other issues
  • Ability to anticipate, identify and respond to project risks and issues. Including completing complex risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills which enable you to assist in resolution of client and key stakeholders’ concerns
  • Tertiary Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering with relevant years of experience in the construction industry
