• Current Driver's Licence and Construction White Card.
• Experience with erosion and sediment control or sensitive construction activities is advantageous.
• TMR and Design & Construct project experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continual improvement of the Project Construction Environmental Management Plan and related sub-plans.
• Provide practical environmental advice to site supervision and construction teams, reviewing work methods and supporting pre-starts.
• Manage environmental monitoring programs (air, noise, vibration, water quality, waste) and report on performance.
• Maintain compliance tracking for licences, permits, approvals and planning conditions.
• Conduct environmental inspections, audits and incident investigations; support close-out of corrective actions.
• Prepare environmental approval documentation and monitor changes to legislation and project obligations.
• Build relationships with client, regulators, community stakeholders and project partners.
• Coach and mentor project team members to strengthen environmental awareness and performance.

Georgiou Group has partnered with Koppens Construction to deliver the Cairns Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) Stage 1 Project, supporting the restoration and resilience of critical transport infrastructure across Far North Queensland.

This project involves a diverse range of civil construction, rehabilitation and slope stabilisation works across multiple sites on one of Australia's most scenic highway corridors.

Beyond the current program of works, Georgiou is continuing to strengthen its presence in Far North Queensland through a growing pipeline of transport and civil infrastructure opportunities. This role offers the chance to contribute to critical recovery works today while positioning yourself for long-term career opportunities across a diverse portfolio of road, bridge and transport infrastructure projects throughout the region.

As our Senior Environmental Advisor, you will play a key role in protecting and enhancing environmental outcomes across complex infrastructure works, partnering closely with project teams, clients, regulators and community stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Advisor to join our Far North Queensland delivery team, initially supporting the Cairns DRFA Stage 1 Project.

Operating within one of Australia's most environmentally significant regions, neighbouring the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, you'll provide practical environmental leadership across multiple work fronts, ensuring compliance with project approvals, licences, permits and environmental obligations.

This role offers exposure to complex environmental challenges, sensitive stakeholder environments and major civil infrastructure works while providing the opportunity to contribute to future transport infrastructure projects as our regional pipeline continues to grow.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the implementation and continual improvement of the Project Construction Environmental Management Plan, supporting sub-plans, procedures and systems.

• Manage environmental monitoring programs, including air, noise, vibration, water quality and waste, and report on performance.
• Maintain compliance tracking for environmental licences, permits, approvals and planning conditions.
• Conduct environmental inspections, audits and reviews, investigate incidents and support the close-out of corrective actions.
• Prepare environmental approval application documentation and monitor changes to relevant legislation and project obligations.
• Build effective relationships with the client, regulatory authorities, community stakeholders and project partners.
• Coach and mentor project team members to strengthen environmental awareness, capability and performance.

Your Skills and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated environmental experience within civil construction or infrastructure projects, particularly road, transport or other linear infrastructure environments.
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 14001 and relevant Federal and Queensland environmental legislation and regulations.
• Experience implementing Construction Environmental Management Plans, environmental monitoring programs and compliance management systems.
• Strong understanding of environmental approvals, permits, auditing and incident management processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide practical advice in a fast-paced project environment.
• Current Driver's Licence and Construction White Card.
• Experience with erosion and sediment control, environmental monitoring and environmentally sensitive construction activities will be highly regarded.
• TMR and Design & Construct project experience will be highly regarded.
