Job summary

Hindmarsh is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead the engineering effort on a major residential development in Canberra. You will join a strong project team and report to the Project Manager and Senior Site Manager, forming part of the project leadership group.

You’ll own major construction packages, drive programming and technical outcomes, coordinate design, consultants and suppliers, and mentor junior engineers to build a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• Significant project engineering experience in commercial construction.
• Experience delivering large and complex construction projects ($20M+).
• Strong technical construction knowledge and ownership of major work packages.

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of major construction packages from procurement through to completion.
• Driving programming, coordination and technical outcomes to keep works progressing safely and on schedule.
• Working closely with the Project Manager, Senior Site Manager and Design Manager to resolve design and construction challenges.
• Coordinating consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to achieve project milestones.
• Managing technical documentation, RFIs, shop drawings, ITPs and quality requirements.
• Supporting procurement through scopes of work, tender reviews and technical assessment of trade packages.
• Proactively identifying and resolving technical and constructability issues.
• Maintaining high standards of quality and ensuring works comply with project specifications, codes and standards.
• Mentoring Project Engineers, Site Engineers and Cadets and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

Hindmarsh is looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join the team delivering a major $100M+ residential development in Canberra.

This is an opportunity to be part of a genuinely strong project team. You'll work closely with an experienced Project Manager and Senior Site Manager and, as the senior engineering lead, form part of the project's leadership group.

You'll have the opportunity to influence how the project is delivered, take ownership of major construction packages and play a key role in coordinating the design, technical and delivery requirements of a complex project.

As a Senior Project Engineer at Hindmarsh, you will be responsible for:

• Taking ownership of major construction packages from procurement through to completion

We are looking for someone who has:

• Significant project engineering experience within commercial construction, ideally with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 head contractor
• Experience delivering large and complex construction projects ($20M+)
• Strong technical construction knowledge and the ability to take ownership of major work packages
• Experience coordinating design, consultants, subcontractors and site teams
• Strong programming, planning and problem-solving capability
• A collaborative leadership style and an interest in mentoring developing team members
• A degree in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent
